Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

1 cup 7Up soda (or lemon-lime soda)

Optional: 1 tablespoon sugar (for a hint of sweetness)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar (if using).

Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Pour in the 7Up and gently stir until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overmix; it's okay if there are a few lumps.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Pat the dough into a rectangle that’s about 1-inch thick.

Use a floured biscuit cutter (or a glass) to cut out biscuits, working quickly to retain the dough’s coldness. Place the cut biscuits on the prepared baking sheet.

You can gather any leftover dough, re-pat, and cut out additional biscuits until all the dough is used.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.

Remove from the oven and brush warm biscuits with a little melted butter for shine and flavor.

                      - Presentation Tips: Serve the biscuits warm, arranged on a rustic wooden board or in a basket lined with a cloth napkin. Drizzle with honey or a fruit preserve for an added touch of sweetness. Enjoy!
