Ingredients

  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter
  • 1 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.33 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 cups chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 1 cups chocolate chunks

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt 0.5 cups of butter. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, followed by the eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Mix in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips. Do not overmix.
  4. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Set aside.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, cream together 0.5 cups softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  6. Beat in the egg and vanilla until well combined.
  7. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  8. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chunks.
  9. Scoop dollops of the cookie dough over the brownie layer in the baking pan. Use a spatula or the back of a spoon to gently spread and cover the brownie batter.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  11. Allow the browkies to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and enjoy warm or at room temperature.
