Tasty Chicken and Waffles Recipe Simple and Easy Dish
Ingredients
- 2 pieces large chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp hot sauce (optional)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 0.5 tsp onion powder
- 0.5 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 Prise salt to taste
- 1 Prise pepper to taste
- 1 cup oil for frying
- 2 cups waffle mix
- 1 Prise maple syrup for drizzling
- 1 Prise fresh berries for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the buttermilk and hot sauce (if using). Submerge the chicken breasts in the mixture, cover, and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours for better flavor.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat (enough to submerge the chicken halfway).
- Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator. Allow it to drip off excess buttermilk, then coat each piece generously in the seasoned flour, shaking off the excess.
- Carefully place the chicken in the hot oil and fry for about 5-7 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/75°C). Remove and drain on paper towels.
- While the chicken is frying, prepare the waffles according to the package instructions or your homemade recipe. Cook until golden brown.
- Serve the hot, crispy chicken on top of the waffles. Drizzle generously with maple syrup and garnish with fresh berries if desired.
💡 Chef's Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the chicken longer if time allows.
