Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
- 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
- 0.25 cup green onions, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger, freshly grated
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 0.25 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
- 0.25 cup honey
- 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp corn starch
- 1 Prise sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet. You should yield about 20 meatballs.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, gochujang, rice vinegar, and corn starch until smooth. This will be your sweet and spicy glaze.
- Brush half of the glaze over the meatballs, reserving the other half for later.
- Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Once cooked, take them out of the oven and toss the meatballs in the reserved glaze for an extra layer of flavor.
- Plate the meatballs and sprinkle sesame seeds and additional chopped green onions on top for garnish.
