Ingredients

  • 3 lbs pork shoulder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 Prise Burger buns or sliders (for serving)
  • 1 Prise Coleslaw (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the pork shoulder dry with paper towels. Rub the olive oil all over the meat.
  2. In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Generously rub the spice mixture on all sides of the pork shoulder, ensuring it's well coated for maximum flavor.
  4. Place the seasoned pork in a slow cooker. Add chicken broth around the pork.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
  6. In the last hour of cooking, combine BBQ sauce and apple cider vinegar in a separate bowl. Set aside.
  7. Once the cooking time is complete, remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Use two forks to shred the meat.
  8. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the reserved BBQ sauce, stirring well to coat.
  9. Serve the pulled pork on soft burger buns or sliders. Top with coleslaw if desired for an extra crunch.

💡 Chef's Notes

For a stunning display, serve the pulled pork in a large bowl, garnished with freshly chopped parsley and accompanied by a side of coleslaw in a separate dish.
