Sizzling Chicken Chow Mein Recipe: A Culinary Delight
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, sliced thinly
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 8 oz chow mein noodles, cooked
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil, divided
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 1 cup bell peppers, sliced (mix of red and green)
- 1 cup bean sprouts
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup snow peas
- 3 green onions chopped
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 0.25 cup chicken broth
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine chicken, soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Mix well and let marinate for at least 20 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together all the sauce ingredients: soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, and chicken broth. Set aside.
- In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken and stir-fry until cooked through, about 4-5 minutes. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Then add the minced garlic and sliced onion, stir-frying for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Add bell peppers, bean sprouts, shredded carrots, and snow peas. Stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
- Add the cooked chow mein noodles and the cooked chicken back into the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the chow mein sauce over the mixture and toss everything together, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
- Sprinkle chopped green onions over the chow mein, giving a final toss.
- Transfer the chicken chow mein to a serving platter and serve immediately.
