Red Velvet Cake Pops Tasty Treat for Any Occasion
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cups granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cocoa powder
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 cups vegetable oil
- 1 cups buttermilk, room temperature
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tbsp red food coloring
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 0.5 tsp white vinegar
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 0.5 cups powdered sugar
- 8 oz white chocolate, chopped
- 1 Prise sprinkles or edible glitter (for decoration)
- 1 Prise lollipop sticks
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and white vinegar until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined and smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, crumble the cake into a large mixing bowl. Add the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar. Mix until fully combined and the mixture holds together.
- Using your hands, form the cake mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Insert a lollipop stick into each cake ball, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for about 30 minutes to firm up.
- While the cake pops are chilling, melt the white chocolate or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
- Remove the cake pops from the freezer. Dip each pop into the melted chocolate, spinning to coat evenly. Allow excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.
- Before the chocolate sets, decorate the pops with sprinkles or edible glitter.
- Place the decorated cake pops upright in a styrofoam block or a cake pop stand to set completely.
