Ham and Cheese Butter Swim Biscuits Easy Brunch Treat
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 0.5 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup diced cooked ham
- 1 cup whole milk
- 0.25 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and sugar until combined.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham until evenly distributed.
- In a separate bowl, mix the whole milk and melted butter. Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and raise a fork to combine until just incorporated. The dough will be somewhat sticky.
- Using a spoon or scoop, drop dollops of the biscuit dough into the prepared baking dish. Make sure to leave some space between each mound.
- Pour additional melted butter over the top of the biscuits to allow them to swim and create a golden crust while baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
- Optional: Sprinkle the chopped fresh chives over the biscuits just before serving for a pop of color and flavor.
