Color Changing Lemonade Refreshing Summer Delight
Ingredients
- 2 cups water (divided)
- 0.5 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons)
- 0.25 cups honey or agave syrup
- 0.25 teaspoon baking soda
- 0.25 teaspoon butterfly pea flower powder (or dried flowers)
- 1 cups ice cubes
- 1 Prise fresh mint leaves or lemon slices for garnish
Instructions
- In a small pot, bring 1 cup of water to a light simmer.
- Add the butterfly pea flower powder (or dried flowers) to the simmering water. Let it steep for about 5-10 minutes until the water turns a deep blue hue.
- Strain the liquid through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl, discarding the petals. Allow the blue butterfly pea tea to cool to room temperature.
- In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice and honey (or agave syrup). Stir until the sweetener is fully dissolved.
- Add 1 cup of cold water to the pitcher and stir to combine.
- Slowly add the baking soda to the lemon juice mixture. Watch as the color changes – it will shift from yellow to a vibrant pink!
- Pour the cooled butterfly pea tea into the pitcher and stir gently. The lemon and tea will swirl together, creating a beautiful gradient effect.
- Serve the lemonade over ice cubes and garnish with fresh mint leaves or lemon slices for extra flair.
