Cheesy Ham Twists: An Irresistible Appetizer for Every Occasion
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 8 slices deli ham
- 8 ounces shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite blend)
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 Prise freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
- 1 Prise fresh chives, finely chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet until it’s about 0.25 inches thick.
- Cut the puff pastry into 16 rectangles (approximately 3x4 inches each).
- On each rectangle, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard, then place a slice of ham and sprinkle cheese over the ham.
- Season with freshly ground black pepper.
- Fold the pastry over to create a pocket, then seal the edges by pressing down with a fork.
- Brush the tops of the pastry pockets with the beaten egg to give them a golden finish.
- Place the pockets on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them out to allow for puffing during baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool slightly. If desired, sprinkle with finely chopped chives for added flavor and color before serving.
