Ingredients

  • 4 pieces tilapia fillets
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 Prise salt (optional)
  • 1 Prise pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko)
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons pickles, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon capers, rinsed and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 Prise salt (optional)
  • 1 Prise pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tartar Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, chopped pickles, capers, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard. Stir until well mixed. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  2. Season the Tilapia: Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels. Rub each fillet with olive oil, then coat them evenly with Cajun seasoning, pressing lightly to ensure it sticks. Season with additional salt and pepper if desired.
  3. Coat with Breadcrumbs: On a plate, spread out the breadcrumbs. Press each seasoned fillet into the breadcrumbs, coating both sides well.
  4. Cook the Fish: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add a tablespoon of olive oil. Once hot, add the breaded tilapia fillets (you may need to do this in batches) and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  5. Serve: Place the cooked tilapia on a serving platter. Drizzle with a bit of olive oil and sprinkle fresh parsley on top for garnish. Serve with the chilled lemon tartar sauce on the side for dipping or drizzling.

💡 Chef's Notes
