Authentic Thai Iced Tea Easy and Refreshing Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- 4 tablespoons Thai tea leaves
- 0.5 cup sugar
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 0.25 cup evaporated milk (optional)
- 1 Prise ice cubes
- 1 Prise star anise (optional)
- 1 Prise vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, remove from heat and add the Thai tea leaves. Let steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on how strong you want the flavor.
- Strain the tea using a fine mesh sieve into a large pitcher, discarding the leaves.
- While the tea is still warm, stir in the sugar until completely dissolved. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until cold.
- For each serving, fill a glass with ice cubes. Pour the chilled tea over the ice, filling the glass about two-thirds full.
- Top with sweetened condensed milk, and gently swirl it into the tea. If using, add a splash of evaporated milk for added richness. You can also add star anise or a dash of vanilla extract for an exotic touch.
- Stir the drink before sipping to mix the flavors or layer the milk for a beautiful presentation.
