Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 4 tablespoons Thai tea leaves
  • 0.5 cup sugar
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 0.25 cup evaporated milk (optional)
  • 1 Prise ice cubes
  • 1 Prise star anise (optional)
  • 1 Prise vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil over medium heat.
  2. Once boiling, remove from heat and add the Thai tea leaves. Let steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on how strong you want the flavor.
  3. Strain the tea using a fine mesh sieve into a large pitcher, discarding the leaves.
  4. While the tea is still warm, stir in the sugar until completely dissolved. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until cold.
  5. For each serving, fill a glass with ice cubes. Pour the chilled tea over the ice, filling the glass about two-thirds full.
  6. Top with sweetened condensed milk, and gently swirl it into the tea. If using, add a splash of evaporated milk for added richness. You can also add star anise or a dash of vanilla extract for an exotic touch.
  7. Stir the drink before sipping to mix the flavors or layer the milk for a beautiful presentation.

💡 Chef's Notes

Serve the Thai iced tea in tall glasses adorned with a slice of orange or a sprig of mint for a refreshing touch!
